

Who are we?
EM Media is the Regional Screen Agency for the East Midlands, one of a network of nine agencies covering the country. Our core mission is to place media at the heart of the creative economy of the East Midlands. We believe that media is essential to the cultural and economic growth of the region and are committed to delivering cultural and economic success on an international scale.
What do we do?
We work in complete harmony with a range of partners, locally, nationally and internationally. We secure finance, nurture and develop talent and invest into enable success – all with the aim of developing the film, games, TV and interactive sectors across the East Midlands region.
Over the past five years we have energised the creation of a national profile for the East Midlands as a film-led region through investment in talent, product and by attracting major film productions to the region to shoot. As a result the film scene in the East Midlands is dynamic and increasingly confident on the world stage.
How do we do it?
Since EM Media began operating in 2002, we have been working to position the East Midlands as a centre of filmmaking and media activity through investment, brokerage and support for the region’s talent pool and by ensuring the region is a location of choice for national and international film makers.
As a delegate body of the UK Film Council EM Media invests Lottery funds in film related projects, activities, organisations and individuals based in the East Midlands.
Using Lottery funds EM Media drives forward the regional archive and education agenda, provides skills support to the region’s practitioners and provides an invaluable Locations Service to film and media production companies from across the world. Since 2002 we have invested £1.5 million of lottery funding in projects with a total project value of £3 million.
In 2006 EM Media secured a £6 million European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) venture capital loan and investment fund which has to date financed 42 investments – 20 of these being film related and including investments in the award-winning Control and the BAFTA winning This Is England. These investments have placed an international spotlight on the East Midlands region; its media practitioners and the products they produce.
